Springing to Success

Justin Ross, owner of JC Desserts, has risen to the challenge on Food Network’s 8th season of the Spring Baking Championship. As he enters the final few weeks of the competition, he has multiple challenge wins under his belt and is clearly a top contender. He continues to wow the judges with his immense talent and attention to detail - something we have been familiar with since first seeing and trying his incredible creations. ⁣

JC Desserts is the culmination of years of hard work and continued education for the Johnson & Wales graduate. Justin’s confections are almost too beautiful to eat; from bold, bright chocolates to intricately designed cakes and pastries, he is a true artist.

Making him all the more impressive is the fact that he is colorblind, something that has never stood in the way of his success. His hope is to be an inspiration to anyone with a disability who feels they are at a disadvantage, and show that they can overcome it.

Prior to beginning his own business, he most recently worked at The Greenbrier, a resort nestled in the mountains of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. As a Pastry Sous Chef working under Jean-Francois Suteau, he assisted in overseeing and maintaining the high level of excellence in the Greenbrier’s Pastry Department.

Justin has also gained a tremendous amount of experience from his travels, notably working under Kelly Fayard at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as John Cook at Norman Love Confections in Fort Myers, Florida. These are just a few stops along Justin’s journey that have molded him into the exceptional pastry chef that he is today.

It comes as no surprise that he has risen to the challenge and made a name for himself at the Spring Baking Championship. No matter how the season ends, he is certainly a winner in our eyes.
